FAQS
Are Northern Wide Plank Reclaimed Box Beams structural?
No. They are decorative only. Northern Wide Plank box beams are hollow, with a wall thickness ranging from ¾” to 1”. This design allows for easy installation, reduced weight, and flexibility to conceal wiring, structural supports, or mechanical elements while maintaining the original look of solid reclaimed wood.
What are Northern Wide Plank Reclaimed Box Beams made from?
Each Northern Wide Plank Reclaimed Box Beam is crafted from genuine, century-old wood reclaimed from historic barns and agricultural structures across North America. Every piece is carefully restored and crafted into a hollow beam, preserving its natural character and history.
What Sizes of Northern Wide Plank Box Beams are Available?
Northern Wide Plank Reclaimed Box Beams are available in a range of standard sizes including 6” (Depth) x 6” (Wide) up to 12” x (Depth) x 12” (Wide), and in lengths up to 22’. Larger and custom sizes are available upon request.
What Types of Northern Wide Plank Box Beams are Available?
We have three different surface types, including original face softwood thresher box beams (called Allegheny), original circle sawn box beams (called Keystone), and hand-hewn box beams (called Legacy). Allegheny features naturally worn patina of reclaimed barn floors, rich with texture and heritage. Keystone displays authentic circular saw marks from early 1900s steam powered sawmills, offering a rustic yet refined character. Legacy showcases the hand-tool marks of early 19th-century craftsmanship, with visible axe and adze impressions restored to their original beauty.
