Conceptualized by the homeowners and executed by the skillful Joanne Dolan Design team, this home embodies warmth, character, and enduring elegance by melding timeless details with contemporary elements. Quality was paramount, and it found its embodiment in Northern Wide Plank’s (NWP) Gaspé white oak hardwood flooring, selected for its organic beauty and durability – ensuring it could withstand the bustling activities of a lively family retreat.
Inside, vintage pieces find new life, like the weathered chest in the office, complementing the traditional leather desk chair.

Inspired by the cherished memories of the client's family home in upstate New York, the vision for this space was clear – to create a haven that echoed the inviting and comforting aura of those childhood memories. Joanne Dolan, with her artistic prowess, breathed life into this vision. The white oak planks, with their 9" (229mm) width and captivating blend of grey and brown tones, emerged as the heart of the home, embodying both aesthetic splendor and decided durability. The varied shades and natural textures of the wood flooring convey a sense of heritage, as though it has been a feature of the space for generations.
Any challenges faced during the project only spurred the creativity further. Joanne's strategic layout adjustments transformed the hexagonal central area, optimizing the living spaces and accentuating the vaulted ceilings. A once-dark great room now revels in sunlight, with large windows and a folding glass door inviting the lake's beauty indoors.
