History Reclaimed
an interior view with midcentury modern furniture and northern wide wood planks on the floor
This private residence located north of Toronto is situated on the property of an 1800's farmstead.Although a new build, intriguing pieces from the farmstead are used throughout the house to create an authentic touch of what once stood on this historic property. The beautiful stone fireplace, handcrafted by a local artisan, uses the foundation stones from the century old barn that once resided here. The old porch posts from the farm house where reclaimed and used as the legs for the bar height table, in the kitchen, with the hooks still intact from where the hammock used to hang. Over the years these homeowners had collected a substantial amount of antiques passed down from generations and are seen throughout the home creating a calm atmosphere. Each element in this design compliments the other, from the reclaimed stone and antique furniture to the reclaimed hemlock wide plank floors.
